As the season draws to a close and we are unsure when we will get together again, it’s an opportune time to thank all the volunteers that have helped our great club.
The committee have done an outstanding job. Jumbo has organised the canteen and gives everything he has, as he’s done for decades to the club, thanks Jumbo. JT has stepped in to sort out every cricketing problem, thanks JT. Thanks to Dale who supported JT in cricketing matters and all his odd jobs around the clubrooms. Ryan has lifted the juniors to a new level, introducing preseason and school holiday programs. Thanks to him and his junior assistants, coaches and managers. Ian has kept us up to date with what’s happening at the Glen Eira Council and SECA and created the questions for the trivia night. Mikel who hosted the trivia night, stepped in to help the 3rd XI when injured, and has continued his good work with Sam and the Turf team, and thanks to Chipper, who helped out by gathering Mackie’s weekly quota for each of its games. Thanks to Sam for making the Turf team possible.
Thanks to Nick, who set up the online uniform store with Swivs. Thanks to Steve Neo who gave up his evenings endlessly through the season trying to sort out the senior SECA teams for each weekend. His contribution was much greater than expected and we respect and are grateful for it. Thanks to Arthur who seamlessly ran the Veterans. Thanks to Paddy, the floating captain/player.
Special thanks to Tracey and Dan who set the girls team up for the season. An amazing effort and one that we look forward to developing more in coming seasons. Thanks, Maria for taking the first steps in improving our communications. Also, thanks to Emma and Luke of Cricket Victoria who came to support our junior initiatives.
Further, thanks to Norma, Chipper’s Mum, if you didn’t know, who ran the canteen, whether it be 1sts or 2nds playing. Thanks to Taz who helped out either behind the bar or behind the computer scoring. Thanks to Baden, who set up the scoreboard and showed enthusiasm and initiative in a range of ways.
Thank you to some outstanding efforts by all on the field, notably Waqas breaking the individual innings batting record at the club, Rosh for bowling his heart out, and Nipun for his brilliant innings, adapting so quickly into the club, and for his special efforts in developing our juniors.
Thanks to our seasoned players, who gave another season to the club. Thanks to our new players, who have helped boost our numbers. Thanks to all who supported our functions.
It costs almost $100,000 each year to run our cricket club. Firstly, thanks to all members who paid their subs early and in full. Thanks to Skip who organised many thousands of dollars in sponsorship, and for assisting Jumbo in keeping the club’s bank account above water.
Thanks to Ads who took charge of organising the weekly raffle. Thanks to Daz for organising the weekly raffle prize, organising the Bunnings BBQs, and in captaining the 4ths to finals. This brings us to our sponsors and other contributors to whom we give great thanks, being:

We can’t make the club the way you want it to be if you don’t let us know what you want.
Thanks, have a happy winter, stay out of danger, and see you next year.
