It’s official, Mackie’s highest individual batting score in a first eleven match has been broken.

Yesterday, Waqas Hussain hit 197 against West Bentleigh. (Picture to follow.)

Waqas’s 197, out caught, was hit in 243 minutes from 178 balls faced. It included 24 fours, and 9 sixes.

Waqas came to the crease when the score was 20 and left when the score was 321.

He was ably supported in the early stages by Ben Ebinger, 10 off 89 balls faced; Nipun Haggalla 33 oof 39 balls; and Roshan Lakmal, 72 off 82 balls faced. (My Cricket Live Scores is a wonderful thing when it works for us.)

The previous record had been held by Stuart Campbell of 192 runs in the 2003/04 season. (Source: Fifty Years: Mackie Memories)

This record was almost broken in round 8 this season when Nipun Haggalla hit 179 off 144 balls faced against Bentleigh ANA.
