It is with sadness that we add our voice to that of other local sporting clubs and the wider community in recognising the passing of Steve Keleher recently.

His contribution to Mackie has been celebrated in recent days across the various club chat groups. The recurring theme across the various messages has been one of “…good bloke!”.

Mackie CC Life Member and first XI captain at the time Steve was at Mackie, Mark Rainey provided his memories.

“Steve Keleher was a great Mackie person.
Not only was he a stylish right hand batsman and a good medium fast bowler playing in our highest teams, but he was just as good off the field socialising with both all and sundry Mackie people and opposition players.
He will be surely missed by all of us who are lucky enough to have had the pleasure to call him a team mate!”

His contribution and on-field success should not go unrecognised either.

A premiership player in the very successful 1991-92 season at Mackie. Steve was a member of the 2nd XI side that won the A Grade that season in a great team performance against Hampton Central in the Grand Final.
