Hi everyone
We are continuing to expand thanks to the hard work of many people, especially those who are responsible for our Junior program. This season we will be fielding 22 teams as follows:
- 6 Senior teams, including our 6th team who made their debut last Saturday
- 1 Veterans team
- 1 Turf team
- 1 Senior Women’s team (who were Premiers last season)
- 13 Junior teams including 3 girls teams.
There have been several notable inclusions in both our firsts and seconds. We have been trying to entice Rowan Bricker to Mackie for several years and are rapt to advise he has joined us along with Robbie D’Leema and Manny Chand all of whom have played in our firsts. Another significant feel good story is that Ollie Drury who is only 14 and come up through our Junior program has also made his debut in the firsts and has looked quite comfortable in the team.
In our seconds we are absolutely thrilled to announce that Brad Higgins, Jack Caspersz, Shane Ho, William Auld and Ryan Hammond have returned to Mackie. These players have come through our Junior program and played in several premierships together. The most important aspect here is that they enjoy their cricket playing together. There is no doubt that in time they will make a valued contribution in our firsts with Brad and Will having already played in the firsts in previous years.
In another positive move Yogesh Kumarr has joined our club and has been able to recruit 10 friends to join him and they will play together in out 4ths team.
All teams have made a positive start to the season with several teams sitting inside the top 4. Training on as Thursday night has been well attended as has the number of people returning to the club on a Saturday night after the game.
Lets all get behind the teams in what should be a very successful season. Everyone is welcome to come down to the games and show support to our teams.
